This morning there was knock on my door. The person who takes care of my house @airbnb brought me fresh bread. He didn’t have to – I didn’t ask. Just bread – small thing.
The same day I went to yoga. The yoga teacher didn’t touch or correct anyone – even so she was asked and she should and she could. Small thing that made me remember it as a bad class.
What these people are doing and how they are doing is miniature of what we do in business.
Please do not order research or stop paying for expensive books before you apply these 3 simple rules for your competitive advantage :
1. Do what you have to do and what you are expected to do and do it better than anyone else
2. Do what you are not expected to do and do it gracefully and with great attention to others needs.
3. PAY ATTENTION TO SMALL things – because they do make a big difference.
Nothing is too obvious or too small. Because… If it is so obvious, did you consciously choose not to implement the idea for the good of your brand or company? Did you choose not to work on your competitive advantage? Did you choose to ignore needs of your clients? Did you choose to be worse than you are expected to be or it happened without your knowledge and consent?
If something is so obvious – change it! Apply it! Work it!
EXECUTION IS EVERYTHING!!! Everybody now has access to the same knowledge – it is how you use it that makes you different. Small things make HUGE difference
So when you say that that something is obvious to you and you still do the wrong thing, it is like saying that you are good at spelling and selling your soul to Santa!
